Raised in a devout Christian household, she began singing at the age of eight with her sisters as part of a gospel group known as The Jacobs Sisters. Her early exposure to music and ministry laid the foundation for a life devoted to worship and service.

Jacobs later attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, where her ministry began to take shape. It was during her time there that she joined the New Harvest Singers, a college ensemble, and released her first album in 1987.
